Specialisation
Psychologist specialised with children and adolescents. A caring and creative approach, where play is serious business.
About me
As a psychologist specialised in children and teenagers, I am delighted to welcome young people and their parents to my independent practice every Wednesday for sessions of psychological support, parental guidance and psycho-affective assessments.
From the very first meeting with patients, I like to take the time to listen and fully understand how a behaviour, emotion or conflict represents a 'problem' in the life of a young person or family. At the first appointment, we define together what your needs are (i.e. your request) and how the sessions can help you. This request is my guideline for framing and channelling the following sessions.
As far as my approach is concerned, I believe that everyone is guided by their own "inner compass", and it is this subjective experience that guides my practice. Major theoretical concepts and diagnoses can help to bring order to the 'artistic blur' of emotions and sensations, but they also have the disadvantage of distancing us from our experience and of 'analysing instead of living'. I therefore refer to them in moderation, proposing open psychological interpretations and discussing them with you. To find out whether these interpretations sound 'right', it is a good idea to ask yourself: does this explanation of the problem 'open a door' and give me hope? Or does this explanation (or this proposed diagnosis) lock me in and weigh me down? Another cornerstone of my practice is the realisation that we can heal without understanding, and we can understand without healing. In other words, we can analyse ourselves with nuances, gain a better understanding of how we function, our fears, our strengths, etc., still without changing. Alternatively, we can change in a very gentle and subtle way, without even realising it and without ‘forcing it’. What we can "control", however, is to provide the right soil for the seeds of the desired change. This soil is a little different for everyone; it moves and adjusts over the months too. For my part, I'm careful to ensure that the sessions nurture the patient's kindness, creativity and joy. As a result, during the sessions, the patient is free to choose between talking, drawing, imagining, playing, walking by the lake, creating stories or looking for treasures hidden in the office. If you have any further question, feel free to contact me directly by phone (078 247 76 76).
